Below we have collected the most important sights of Keetmanshoop for you.

1. Quivertree Forest

For example, just under 14 kilometers outside Keetmanshoop, the Quivertree Forest Rest Camp. This area is known for its quivertrees, also called kokerboom named. Another 5 kilometers further from Quivertree Forest are some beautiful basalt rocks also known as the Giant's Playground. They are reminiscent of the Matobo Hills Zimbabwe. It may be a little less extreme but still interesting to see. The formations were created approximately 180 million years ago. The name Giant's Playground comes from the fact that it looks as if a group of giants played with blocks in this ancient stone landscape.

This dinosaur lived 270 million years ago in the freshwater Lake Gondwanaland.

4. Naute Dam

About 50 kilometers north of Keetmanshoop is the Naute Dam (location here). This impressive dam is surrounded by picturesque scenery and provides the perfect setting for relaxation and birdwatching. The water surface of the dam attracts various bird species, making it a paradise for bird watchers. Here you can enjoy a quiet picnic, go fishing or simply admire the serene surroundings.

5. Kalahari Red Dunes

Explore the beautiful red dunes of the Kalahari Desert, which stretch to the east of Keetmanshoop. These dunes are a photogenic landscape that changes with the light of day.
