When I think of a dream vacation on Curaçao, then I think of sun-drenched days, gently swaying palm trees and the sound of the waves breaking on the white sandy beach. I think of beautifully decorated hotel rooms, delicious dishes and good, quality cocktails. This seems like a simple task for most 5-star resorts, but let's be honest: sometimes hotels leave a lot to be desired. The number of stars actually only says something about the facilities, not so much about the quality and service.
Because of my work as a world traveler (which I have been doing for almost 10 years now, including four years full-time), I know better than anyone what the most important differences are between certain hotels and resorts. Let my experience as a world traveler help you make an informed choice.
In this article I will tell you more about Curaçao Marriott Beach Resort and what makes it unique. I will try to help you figure out if this particular resort in Curacao is for you, or not.

1. It never feels crowded
What sets Curaçao Marriott Beach Resort apart from other 5-star hotels in Curaçao are the many large open spaces and the general 'filling level' of the buildings and beaches. In other words, even if the resort is completely booked, it still won't feel crowded. The short video below gives you a good idea of what the high season (mid-December) looks like.
Everything is spacious. Unlike other resorts, the sunbeds are not close to each other. The lobby is grand, the restaurants are spacious, there are several swimming pools, the beach is more than spacious enough for everyone, and I could go on and on.

Curacao Marriott Beach Resort focuses on a different type of traveler. They are mainly world travelers who have a little more to spend, consider service as an important part of the experience and are looking for more peace and space. They are often travelers who want to spend a romantic time together and really relax, without having to queue at a bar or run for an umbrella.
2. High level service
Service is an important part of this experience. From the moment you arrive, you will be welcomed by friendly staff who will do everything they can to make your stay as pleasant as possible. This is of course something you expect from a 5-star resort, but let me explain the exact difference.
Whether you have a question about the local attractions or just want some tips for the best beach for snorkeling, you'll find that they go the extra mile to help you. First of all, everyone here speaks good English and they clearly have good communication skills and are also well trained - something that is often missing in budget hotels and resorts, and even in 5-star resorts this still regularly goes wrong.
Some examples:
- When you order a cocktail from the menu, the friendly bartender will ask you a few questions about your preference – would you prefer it stronger, sweeter or sour?
- Is your glass almost empty? Then there is a good chance that someone will come and ask if you would like a new drink. You don't have to do it yourself…
- In the restaurant the staff introduces themselves to you - according to the American principle. It provides a more personal experience.
- The bar and restaurant staff then serve the drinks and dishes correctly, as taught at the hotel school. While dining, they ask if everything is to your liking, at exactly the right time.
They seem like small things, you might think. But this is exactly where one good resort distinguishes itself from one excellent resort. The service is where Curaçao Marriott Beach Resort noticeably excels, but that is not the only thing…
3. A kitchen of Michelin* quality
What has also stayed with me is the kitchen. The delicious smells and flavors. Yes, you read that right – the food here is simply fantastic, I would almost say on the level of a Michelin star. Although all-inclusive is an option, I do not recommend it.
In my opinion, it is better to choose a room with breakfast, so that you then have the freedom to experience lunch and dinner in one of the different restaurants. There is an Ocean Grill and a Sushi Bar to choose from, among others, and I tested them both.
Whichever restaurant you choose, the Curaçao Marriott Beach Resort will spoil your taste buds with a range of culinary delights, from local Caribbean dishes to international favorites. And believe me, every bite is a real pleasure. The sushi (above) and tuna tartare (left in the photo below) were exceptionally good.
4. Beautiful ocean view rooms
Let's talk about the accommodations – spacious, luxurious and equipped with all the modern conveniences you need for a comfortable stay. Whether you choose a room with a sea view or a suite with a private terrace, everything you need is there, including a very spacious shower and toilet room.
If you can and want to spend a little more, definitely book one Ocean view room. The view at sunrise and sunset is beautiful, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Watch and listen for yourself:
It was wonderful to stay in my room every now and then and relax there. I could enjoy the colorful view while selecting some photos or reading a book.
You are less likely to do that if you have a room without a nice view. During the day I loved opening all the curtains so that the natural light shined through the huge windows and I could look outside in a panoramic way.
5. Swimming pools with a purpose
As you can see in the aerial photo below, there are two large swimming pools available. The two swimming pools are quite different from each other, which I definitely see as a plus. The left pool is designated as 'adult only'. Lines have also been set out and with a length of 50 meters you can swim perfect laps. I was here every morning; great to start your day like this!

The right pool is more for relaxation. Children are welcome here and there are plenty of corners and shallow areas where you can relax or take a dip. The beach bar is also located directly next to the pool, so a fresh cocktail is never far away.

Both swimming pools serve a different purpose: one more mature, relaxed and sporty, the other more casual and suitable for families.
6. Private beach
A luxury resort on Curaçao is of course not complete without a beautiful beach where you can enjoy the wavy sea and experience beautiful sunsets. I can say a lot about how beautiful and unique this beautiful beach is, but I think the pictures tell more than 1000 words. See for yourself:
